What I Love

I’ve been enjoying a lot of things lately, one of them being sparkling flavored water. It’s been surprisingly easy to give up carbonated drinks, but occasionally do I want something cold, refreshing and bubbly. The great thing about sparkling water is it has zero sodium as opposed to club soda. A couple weeks ago I made my own ginger syrup for home made ginger ale (recipe at joythebaker.com). The recipe called for sparkling water or club soda so this one from La Croix happened to be on sale. The one pictured below is berry flavored, but they have all kinds of flavors. It took some time for my taste buds to grow accustomed to it, because it kept expecting the bubbly refreshness to be accompanied by a lot of sugary sweetness. Now I don’t cringe anymore.

Sparkling flavored water is growing on me.

I’m also been loving cardigans and cotton dresses. The outfit below has been my favorite so far. It’s a green cotton dress from Old Navy. I would link to it but I don’t see it in their online store anymore (it may have sold out fast because it’s so adorable). You can’t really tell from the photo but there’s eyelet detailing at the hemline of the skirt–very lovely and feminine.

I love cardigans and cotton dresses.

Oh, and food trucks. I’ve been obsessed with food trucks lately. Not really great since I’m trying to lose weight, but the good thing about them is they’re a moving target so they’re not always easily accessible (I may be obsessed with them, but I won’t chase them all over town). If they’re in the neighborhood, however, I will more than likely stop by. Like this one time when I saw the Ssahm BBQ truck, a Korean taco truck, parked in a Walgreens on my way home from work one evening. On the left are 2 pork tacos in corn tortillas and on the right a regular order of their kimchee fries. Deeeeelicious! Especially those Kimchee fries. Definitely not something I would eat every day, but it was a nice treat for a Friday evening!

I got Ssahm.

  1. This should be a regular Monday feature! It made me smile to think of these pick me ups in your week. 🙂

  2. That’s a great idea 🙂 Mondays are always so blah that it’s nice to start it out with a few positive thoughts. Plus I think this is a really good mental exercise. It’ll get me to pay more attention to the world around me, and I think I’ve been neglecting a lot lately!

  3. I love sparkling water. I like to mix it with juice, helps cut the calories in it. And I’ve been wanting to try kim chee fries every since I heard about them in December. We’ve got a Korean food truck here, I’ll have to find out if they make them. They look delicious.

  4. Oh wow I never thought of mixing sparkling water with juice! I usually mix still water with juice anyway because it’s usually so sweet, but I may have to try that with sparkling water. Oh yes and the kimchee fries are AWESOME. I would really only recommend them to people who actually like kimchee, but even if you don’t, I think it’ll grow on you after a while. These guys actually caramelize their kimchee somehow (still pungent but slightly sweeter). Amazing!
