Feel Better Soon

I’m in the middle of one of those spells where I just feel uninspired. For this card, however, I saw a little spark come back just in time for the Jen Martakis Designs Rain Drops DigiKit to go live :)

Life lately has been a little bit of everything. I just finished reading this book called The Glass Castle: A Memoir by Jeannette Walls for my book club. What an amazing story. I can’t believe the things she and her siblings had to overcome like their struggle through poverty and being raised by two selfish parents. It was inspiring and made me think twice about the things I have, and the things I want in life. I often have a difficult time finishing books that I actually read, but this one was easy.

I think I’m ready for a short spring break though. Maybe not a vacation, just some time off so I can do things around the house. It’s weird but some of my best days off are days when I stay home and get things done around the house :)

How Are You?

A handmade card using digital elements

What a great weekend! I’ve been able to spend a little more time at my craft desk then I usually do. And if you’re wondering, I managed to meet my 2010 NY Resolutions by just a smidge! I made 2 cards earlier this month, one of which I didn’t post because it used similar supplies as this one, and a 12 x 12 layout yesterday.

I’m still trying to find an adequate photo editing workflow though. Right now I’m using a combination of iPhoto, Lightroom, and sometimes Photoshop CS. I love processing photos in Lightroom, especially now that I understand the awesomeness that is Nikon RAW, but I prefer iPhoto’s organization and face-recogition system. It just feels a little clunky switching from one to another in a session. And because the Lightroom version I have is version 3 beta, I’m hesitant to do ALL of my photo editing in Lightroom since I’m afraid of all of my photos getting “trapped” in an expired version, but I’m still going to do all my photo editing in it anyway.

Hello Friend!

Hello Friend!

Here’s one of my first cards in compliance with my 2010 Resolutions post. I’ve had this Bo Bunny paper in my stash for a while and since I love the swiss dots pattern, I wanted to try and use it in a card. Some of these items aren’t available but below are the supplies I could find.

Supplies:
Stampin Up Kraft card stock
Chatter Box Journal Labels
Basic Grey (Mellow Collection) Maude Alphabet Stickers
American Crafts Glitter Thickers in Shoe Box

Love You a Latte

This card was inspired by a technique featured in one of the latest issues of Paper Crafts Magazine. I basically punched out several different sizes of Taken with Teal card stock from Stampin Up, inked the edges, and adhered them to a sheet of the same color.

The one circle that has the American Crafts Flair button is adhered using pop up dots and outlined using a white pen.

Dinner and a Sunset

Dinner and a Sunset, originally uploaded by krisalis903.

I took this photo a couple weeks ago on a Friday night after a painful day at work. Honestly I was just ready to go home. I knew the only thing that would wash away the pain would be a great dinner on Mena’s patio and a delicious margarita.

I think I’m definitely going on a stash diet though. I’ve acquired way too much stuff for my own good. However, all of the stuff I used in this layout is new (with the exception of the kraft paper). I’ll be using a lot of new things over the next few weeks. The only thing I’ll be buying while on this stash diet adhesive!
