I fully intended on writing a post yesterday before the family Thanksgiving festivities began but it never happens that way. Ever. Each year during Nablopomo, there’s at least 1 day where I totally forget to write a blog post and about 99.9% of the time it’s Thanksgiving.
Speaking of Thanksgiving, it was a fantastic evening as usual (Flickr pictures here). My aunt rented the clubhouse in her neighborhood, complete with a large living area and kitchen. It’s probably the only building available during Thanksgiving that can accommodate a family our size. Everyone brought food, the kids put on a little talent show, and the cousins created a slideshow of photos from the last year. It was really nice.
So today is Black Friday, a day in which I’m usually up and in my shoes and out the door before the sun rises to partake in the shopping madness. Instead, I’m at home, in my jammies with a Christmas album playing on the stereo. There wasn’t anything I really wanted to get and I’d already done a lot of online shopping from midnight to almost 3:00 a.m. the night before.
But now begins another tradition of mine: putting up the tree and hanging Christmas decorations while listening to Christmas music. I’m in a bit of a dilemma this year because this new apartment has a different living room layout than my old apartment. I’m not quite sure where I should put the Christmas tree this year. I am leaning toward putting it next to the fireplace though. Very picturesque if I may say so, and I could really use picturesque right now.
