Inspiration Journal

Ok so I’ve spent a lot of time this weekend stumbling around the Internet. Along the way I’ve come across a few things that I find inspiring.

Digital Scrapping: The Next Level

Shine by jazzmatazz (from Designer Digitals)

This is a digital layout by a digiscrapper named jazzmatazz. I discovered this yesterday while browsing the Designer Digitals idea gallery. I love this because it completely shatters all of the preconceived notions about digital scrapbooking that I had problems coping with (over-exaggerated drop shadows and beveled elements, etc.). THIS is the kind of digital scrapbooking that I could really enjoy doing.

Hello Again, Art Journaling

I also rediscovered a former interest of mine: art journaling. In one of the episodes of Paperclipping Roundtable, they briefly touched on the subject of taking scrapbooking beyond the page (episode link here). One of the panelists talked about her favorite art journaler–a woman by thee name of Judy Wise. If you’re curious about art journaling, I’d recommend visiting her blog here. She uses some really great techniques in her art journal that I haven’t seen since my high school and college art classes (like encaustic–wow). She records her journey on her blog–definitely a great source for inspiration.

Just in Time for Summer Colors

Here’s a great color combination that I found via Stacy Julian’s blog that I thought just oozes summer:

Don't these colors just spell out summer?

  1. Okay, since you brought it up, I also have a hard time using beveled elements/embellishments and flowers and such. They just have never done anything for me at all. I am ALL about the type of digiscrapping just like the sample you posted…kind of like an awesome ad in a magazine. No cheesy embellishments. Anyway, awesome finds!

  2. Yes! Exactly–magazine style. I still love the textured and patterned papers in digital scrapping, but I definitely think that magazine style is what I’m drawn to when I look at other digital layouts.
