Arbonne About Face Eye Pencil

Arbonne Eye Pencil - Hepburnstar_4.gif
Let’s face it. An eye pencil is an eye pencil (unless it’s liquid liner). I don’t think I’ve ever come across an eyeliner that’s considered “outstanding” (meaning, it not only draws the perfect line, but it also slices, dices, chops, and juliennes). My experience is it either performs well or it doesn’t.

With that said, I think Arbonne’s About Face Eye Pencil would be considered one of those eye pencils that “performed well.” Not that this is a negative trait for this fast-growing brand. In fact, I have confidence that you’ll actually be satisfied with this product.

About Arbonne’s Eye Pencil
Arbonne’s eye pencil measures roughly 4 3/4″ and offers a whopping 0.02 oz. of lining power. On one end of the liner is, well, the liner part. On the other end is a soft spongy tip for smudging, blending, and softening lines. This liner comes packaged in a cardboard box and a sleeve (perhaps to prevent crushing during shipping).

Ingredients: hydrodgenated palm glycerides, hydrogenated palm kernel glycerides, hydrogenated cottonseed oil, myristyl lactate, rhus succedanea fruit wax, copernicia cerifera (carnuba) wax, quarternium-18 bentonite, isopropyl myristate, hydrated silica, methylparaben, propylparaben, maleated soybean oil, macadamia ternifolia seed oil, butylparaben, persea gratissima (avocado) oil, tocopheryl acetate, gingko biloba extract, jojoba esters, citric acid, may contain: mica, iron oxides, titanium dioxide, ferric ammonium ferrocyanide, manganese violet, chromium oxide greens, chromium hydroxide greens, ultramarines, blue 1 lake.

cetaphil_cleanser.jpgAfter running out of my usual cleanser, I bought this one after my cousin recommended it to me. My skin dries out in the wintertime so this cleanser helped get rid of the dry flakey patches on my face. With warmer weather, however, my skin doesn’t need the extra moisturizing action of this cleanser and I did feel as though it left a thin film on my face after rinsing. My skin DID feel soft though. I think this is a good general cleanser and the fact that you can use it without even having to wet your face is an interesting concept. Tip: Use this in conjunction with a washcloth once or twice a week to exfoliate and get rid of dead skin cells.

Update 08-25-07: I’ve purchased this cleanser again and kept it as my backup when I run out. I originally wrote that this cleanser was too heavy on oily skin during the summer months, but I take that back. If you use this cleanser in conjunction with a face cloth, you won’t have any problems with any film left behind on your skin. It actually rinses away great!

Who’s this for?
People with dry and/or sensitive skin that want a simple solution to a clean face.

Would I buy this again?
I think I would. Despite the non-foaming, lotion-like formula, I think the results outmeasure the awkwardness.

Dove Deep Moisture Facial Lotion

My need for a good moisturizer has grown relative to my age. Ever since I lost my Mary Kay insider, I’ve been searching for a suitable replacement for their $22 TimeWise Age-Fighting Moisturizer (combination to oily). I wanted something that offered the same benefits: moisturize my skin without feeling heavy. Ideally I would like a cheaper alternative as well.

It was nearing the end of the month and I was out of the good stuff, so I couldn’t really afford Mary Kay. In a moment of desperation, I decided to try Dove’s Deep Moisture Facial Lotion. I’ve tried their deodorant and hair products and have been satisfied with the results at the most. I couldn’t really go wrong here, especially at roughly $4 for a bottle.
