November is NaBloPoMo

Weeee!! I’m very excited about NaBloPoMo starting up. Last year was a lot of fun. At times it was a race to get home in time to write a post, but now that I have the nifty new iPhone I can blog from wherever using the WordPress app :) I think I’m going to try posting a photo every day as well. I haven’t done that in a while and I need to get back into taking more photos anyway.

Anyone else interested in participating? Visit www.NaBloPoMo.com.

Google Chrome: One Step Closer to World Domination

Google Chrome Beta

Google Chrome Beta

Google announced the release of Google Chrome which is their open source browser. It’s pretty sweet and definitely lightning fast like the reports say.

Google Suggest: Artificial Influence or Improving User Input?

I heard through the Twitter grapevine that Google was releasing their Google Suggest feature.

Google Suggest: Putting words into the mouths (or hands) of users?

While I really like the fact that Google is taking the initiative to help users find what they want, I wonder if this would be considered artificial influence on users. Or would Google actually be improving user input (avoiding misspellings, etc.) by suggesting search topics. Hmm…. Thoughts?

San Jose 2008 Recap: Monday

Welcome to The Show

Seeing as how this is my first year to attend Search Engine Strategies, I may not be able to provide a good comparison between this year’s SES San Jose and the conferences of years past. However, I can provide a rundown of the major points from the sessions I attended this year (major thanks to The Boss for giving me the opportunity to attend). Since I’m an unbelievably slow writer and I have a lot of blogging to catch up on, I’m going to have to break it down day by day.

WordPress 2.5, I Wanna Make Out With You and Have Babies With You (And Not Necessarily in That Order)

transOk, so I’m going to temporarily put on my geek hat for a moment. I downloaded the RC1 version of WordPress 2.5 after seeing they were offering it to people willing to test it out.

I am in love.

I’ve been a longtime user of WordPress. I mean LONG TIME. Even though the interface has always been… well, eh… not so great, I still used it faithfully because its robust features always outweighed its cosmetic shortcomings. But now… now I am truly in love and can’t wait for the stable release.

The admin interface received a complete overhaul and one of the things they’ve listed as a new feature is FULL TEXT FEEDS. Yes! I’ve dying for this for so long that I’m anxious to start using it. I thought it was so lame that even when you set your options to full text feeds, the full text doesn’t even show up in the feed. I know, it was a WTF moment when I discovered that. I also love the fact that the admin panel is “pluggable” and more easily customized to fit every users blogging style.

This release is by far the best I’ve seen. Hats off to the developers and everyone involved in this project. You guys have done a great job.
